Happy Valentine's Day!
Busby the cat brought me a bird this morning -- I can only assume it was a token for the holiday. The bird was alive, and since I saw it fly away I imagine it is still alive, although probably now actively seeking bird therapy. Of course it didn't find its way to the outdoors without assistance -- there was chasing, swearing, and cats being locked in bathrooms. It's the thought that counts, right?
edit: since I was in here editing anyway (to remove hilarious inadvertant sad-sackery), here's something holiday appropriate: special twisted Valentines from the 7 Deadly Sinners. (the zombie valentines are my particular favorites.)
edit 2: ooh -- here you go: a wonderfully cheesetastic (with guitar solos!) video by the Darkness. It may be a few years old, but the message of the power of love to defeat space monsters is timeless.
So far, VD has been great. Walking in the rain to go to the market for the mother figure that is still feeling sick because my sister can't be bothered to drive. Ugh. I am being petty. But I find my sister to be annoying at times. Other then that it has been a swell day. Now if I could find out where Yosemite is...that would be key.
ReplyDeleteEnh. It's just a day. I get bent out of shape because of the manipulation factors involved in it (and those goddamn mall jewelers!), but I really like making valentines so I'm stuck.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're having a crappy day, though. Try not to make it any crappier by giving extra weight to the date.
(I also went walking in the rain, but it was by choice which makes a HUGE difference.) Watch the Darkness video. It cracks me up every time!!
Ooh! Yosemite! I was there a few years ago. It was snowy and we couldn't actually get into the park, but I saw moose. Mooses. More than one moose.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I just looked it up and I was at YELLOWSTONE. but I have been to Yosemite, too, it was just longer ago. It's in California. Yellowstone is in Wyoming or somewhere cold like that.
A friend of mine that I haven't seen in like 7 years will be camping at/in Yosemite in July and since she lives on the east coast it would be a lot easier to see her there. However, camping is soooo not what I like. I like electricity.
ReplyDeleteThis day makes me crazy, though. I am going to make a nice dinner for Erich and hope that is enough. i also decorated with hearts and such so I hope he likes my childish craftiness.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Those 7Deadlysinners pieces are Anti-Valentines! I esp. like the Romantic Slug Sex one. The zombie one is neat, too, though. But some are way too graphic for squeamish me.
ReplyDeleteDarkness was a giggle--what I watched--some of us have a headache.
It was indeed a dark and gloomy day. It felt even emptier than most ordinary days, since I did not make any Valentines for anyone this year. Grimace. We went out for a nice dinner, casual, relaxed, and that made it seem a bit special, you know? Brought back cheesecake to eat with Lost. (Notice I didn't say Bones, where they will undoubtedly be weighing hearts or something equally apropos of the day.) Cheesecake and Lost: Now that is poetic!
BBD -- you should go. It is beautiful, and believe me there are plenty of places to stay with electricity. They get a lot of tourists, and many do not enjoy the great outdoors in big doses.
ReplyDeletePatty, I'm glad you got a giggle out of the darkness. I always do! I hope you enjoy your cheesecake and Lost.
(the 7 deadly sinners also have some cute/weird vintage valentines on their site don't involve any literal hearts in hands.)
If we can swing it we will go. I would like Erich to meet all of the people that are important to me. He has already met the Buffy crew so that is 4 down...
