summer is leaving but I don't want it to go

For today, some photos from aug/sept. that I haven't posted yet. These are happy roses from my summer-long rose-improvement campaign of FOOD AND WATER. Who knew? Besides everyone, I mean.

These are hops growing on one of the cables that stabilizes a telephone pole. I read somewhere that Oregon (prob. the whole PNW) is one of the few regions in the world where hops grow easily. They're so cute.

Otis loves to climb trees, but he REALLY loves for people to stand beneath whatever tree he's on, so he can casually hop onto shoulders. This is not always met with delight, as you can imagine. (it largely depends on how big of a surprise a sudden cat on the shoulder is.)

  1. Your roses are lovely. So nice...

And Otis is a doll. I am sure he is not more a menace than the Duff, who likes to be petted three strokes then lashes out on the fourth one, teeth and claws. Such comedians.

    1. Thanks, Patty! Otis is a sweetheart, even when he's being a little pain in the butt. The rose is a pink Promise. I know hybrid teas aren't fashionable right now, but this one smells so nice and blooms so well! It's pretty old, too. Not like Old Rose old, but my grandfather planted it.

  2. I, too, will miss summer, but autumn is starting out so lovely that I can't really complain. Much.
I can't wait to see Otis again!

    1. We have been having a LOVELY autumn, I agree! I'm also not trying to complain, much. But 15 degrees warmer would be nice...

  3. Forgot to ask--what is the name for that rose?
