Pansies are so personable. Even this one without as much of the traditional pansy "face" looks like she's waving you in so she can shut the door.
Pansy army, obviously.
The general. (you can tell because of the moustache.)
Mary Blair knew what I'm talking about - check out these pansies for Alice in Wonderland:
Coming up next, the pansy's garden shop cousin, THE RANUNCULUS.
Thanks for the link to Mary Blair. Hadn't heard of her. I love her pansies--they certainly have character. Beyond "child-like" and "innocent."
ReplyDeleteShe herself has an interesting face. More angular than Kathrine Hepburn.
I love Mary Blair - such a distinctive style. She did the concept art for the Disney Peter Pan, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and maybe one more that I can't think of right now. You can get the picture books featuring her art for those films from the library. They're fun to look at!
